OUR HISTORY

In Desio, "Icam" (Industria Cuscini A Molle) was founded by Carlo Mariani (the first company to produce biconical steel springs for cushions for sofas and armchairs) in the small 150-square-meter warehouse adjoining the old family home.

With Carlo's untimely death, his very young son Luigi, the first of the Mariani brothers, takes over the factory. Finished mattresses with springs, wadding and hand-stitched and giffati fabric covers are also produced , delivered to the first customers in Brianza (Saporiti, Cassina and other brands that would become historical in the years to follow). Deliveries are still made by pedal vehicles and a small truck.

The new production plant is built and expanded to about 1,000 square meters, where with about ten employees mass production of bonnel springs for mattresses and upholstered furniture in Italy is started. The first semi-automatic spring machines, the US-made Wells 40 springs per minute, are purchased. The spring mattress also takes a central role in the sleeping market thanks to the Permaflex brand.

Relocation to the new 2500 sq. m. production facility with purchase of the first automatic Sphul and Fides machines. Sales are made throughout Italy and abroad.
All 4 Mariani brothers are engaged in the growing family business.

New factories and space are purchased to increase production and improve logistics. The Anteconbrandis created and a new company where cold foaming of the first boxed mattresses and bed sommiers is started.

The continuous demand in the country for spring mattresses leads to the establishment of Formolla s.r.l. (Melissano LE), the first production plant for springs and springs in Southern Italy. We start with the automatic production of bonnel springs also a plasticization plant (unique in Italy) of the springs themselves for the hospital and naval sectors, the trade of TE.MA. (Tessuti Mariani) fabrics and EUROFIBRE padding.

Antecon began manufacturing bagged springs thanks to the idea and far-sighted market vision of Lucio Mariani, Luigi's brother.

Another production structure is created to better follow the central Italian market, TECNOMOLLA s.r.l. in partnership with another historical figure in the family, Mr. Paolo Guardigli, who has always been a commercial figure in the group.

Market dynamics and the desire to be more and more present in the market give birth to SAMI s.r.l. in Bellizzi (SA). Bonnel springs and box springs are produced with automatic lines for the industrial production of spring mattresses.

Antecon moved to Sovico (MB) to a 4,000 sq. m. facility and devoted all of its production to increasing Pocket springing and other products all with pocket springs (Micropocket, Supermicro and Cover).

SAMI s.r.l. moves to Eboli in 5,000 sq. m. where it also begins producing Pocket. Export to Mediterranean countries is expanded.

Antecon s.r.l. obtains its first ISO 9001 certification.

SAMI s.r.l. expands with a new warehouse of about 2,000 square meters and with new investments in automatic machinery evolves and becomes the largest mollificio in Italy. Bonnel, pocket and boxed rubber are produced.

ANTECON today develops the design of the first
fully recyclable bagged spring .
Today this group of companies, Antecon, Tecnomolla, Sami and Formolla, now in its fourth generation with the entry of Matteo Mariani, has been headed by HATES srl. since 2006; a family holding company that encompasses and coordinates it all, headed by Luigi's children, Maria Teresa and Carlo.
